Happy Valentine’s Day, Feliz Día de San Valentín!
Happy Valentine’s Day! How are you spending your day today?
Since it’s a Tuesday my kids are in school. They all had fun school activities planned, and we sent cards and gifts for the teachers. I remember going to school on Valentine’s Day, and the excitement I felt at receiving the cards and of course the candy from my class. I’m glad that they get the chance to experience the same thing, although I hope they get a lot less candy!
In my oldest’s school they’re doing something called Kindness Week. It takes the spirit of Valentine’s Day and makes it into an entire week, with an emphasis on being kind and showing care and thoughtfulness to others. I really love this idea, because it teaches our kids to show kindness, and to seek opportunities to be considerate and demonstrate love. It is really important to show love to others. We may speak different languages, and come from different cultures or religious backgrounds, but there is always room for love, compassion and tolerance. Valentine’s Day can be about a lot more than just a romantic holiday. It can be about the ways we demonstrate to those around us how much we appreciate them, and let them know that they are special.
So if no one has told you today, you are special, valuable and worthy! I wish you a Valentine’s Day that is enjoyable and festive, and I hope that you have the opportunity to share this day with people you care about. Happy Valentine’s Day, Feliz Día de San Valentín!
